Debate Questions- Religion at Public Events

Why should praying not be allowed?

Why can't someone pray by themselves if they want to pray instead of making everyone do it?

Why did the newspaper think so little of the speech?
They didn't do very well on it and did not revise it.

How was the speech received in other areas of the Union?
Lincoln made the speech so some may not have liked or cared for it.

I don't think it should be mandatory to pray before something but I think if you want to pray at a certain time then you should be able to but must not be forced to.

1. Do you agree or disagree with the decision?
I don't agree with the decision because I think that the people should choose whether they work in a dangerous area or not.

 2.  Do you think it is a violation for Sea World?  Or is it the right if the trainer to decide?
I think the trainer should make the decision because it is there life on the line. If they want to put their life on the line that is their own choice.

Read the article and respond how you would have handle the situation if you were the hunter?

If I was the hunter I would probably have done the same thing. I would probably not want to stay alive and be hooked up to a machine for the rest of my life. It was his own decision and if he felt it was the right thing at the time then he did the right thing.

Read the article and write a paragraph stating whether you agree or disagree with Kmart's decision.  Make sure you include specific examples to support your cause.
I agree that Kmart could stay open all day on Thanksgiving. Other major stores do so what is the difference? Most stores have different scheduled shifts so no one works all day. I don't know what the big deal because it is not any different from any other store. I think that everyone is making too big of a deal out of something so small.

Contrast this with US laws and how they handle gay rights.
I believe that it is a persons right to choose whether they are gay or not. No one should have to be forced in or out of being gay. Before it was a big deal but now it is calming down and becoming more frequent. Everyone should be treated equally whether they are gay or not.

1. What effect will tough requirements such as this have on voters?
They will want to know why there are so many rules against voting.
2. Can these requirements violate the rights of voters?
No but it makes it harder to vote.
