BR 12/16/13

Club Fire Kills 233 People in Brazil (Jan. 27): A fire at a night club breaks out and kills at least 233 people. The cause of the fire is a flare from pyrotechnics used by a band performing on stage in the club. This was a large amount of people and it affected the nation will all of the deaths.

The Supreme Court Debates Same-Sex Marriage (Mar. 26): On March 26, 2013 the Supreme Court debated about same-sex marriage. At the time the topic was very heavy and caused a lot of commotion between people. Some disagreed with same-sex marriage and some did.

Multiple Bombs Explode during the Boston Marathon (Apr. 15): During the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013 a series of bombs went of and killed hundreds of people. They provided that this a terrorist attack on the US and decided to do it where there were many people at one gathering.

Mile-Wide Category 4 Tornado Hits Oklahoma (May 20): On May 20, 2013 a Tornado hit Oklahoma and killed and hurt many people. At least 24 people were killed in this tornado and an elementary school was ruined because of this horrific events.

Elite Firefighters Killed in Arizona (June 30): A fire broke out on Yarnell hill on June 30, 2013. The fire was spread across 8,000 acres and several firemen got killed. This means that firefighters and their gear should be updated and fire safety should be more common.

The Duchess of Cambridge Gives Birth to a Baby Boy (July 22): On July 22, 2013 the Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to a son George Alexander Louis. The child will have the title His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge, after Prince Charles and Prince William.

Manning Sentenced to 35 Years for Leaking U.S. Files (Aug. 21): Private Bradley Manning was sent to prison for 35 years for leaking U.S. files to the internet on August 21, 2013. This is a serious thing and people need to know that there are serious consequences for these actions.

Gunman and 12 Victims Killed in D.C. Navy Yard Shooting (Sept. 16): A former Navy Reservist took fire on the D.C. Navy Yard on September 16, 2013. This was a serious event and the consequences need to be taken care of.

Worst Fire Emergency in almost 50 Years (Oct. 22): The worst Fire Emergency in almost 50 years broke out on October 22, 2013. This happened in Australia and should show everyone that fire safety is a big issue and you always need to take precautions with it.

 Man Opens Fire in New Jersey Shopping Mall (Nov. 4): A man opened fire in a New Jersey Shopping Mall on November 4, 2013 but no injuries were reported. This is a serious accusation and everyone needs to know the consequences that come along with the actions.

 1.  Do you believe the police have the same rights to "snoop" in personal cell phone usage as the NSA does?  Or is this a separate entity with different rights?
     I don't think that they should have the right to "snoop" in personal cell phone usage unless they have probable cause.  

2. Do we live in a society where privacy is a thing of the past?
     Yes, no one anymore has any privacy for anyone else.


3.  Why would they use this technique?
     They use this technique to see if anyone is planning a terrorist attack.     

 4.  What other areas should be closely monitored? 
     Other games that have bad things going on in them should be monitored as well.

1.  Does the NSA have a right to collect your personal data without a search warrant or probable cause?
     Yes they have the right if they have probable cause as to collect your personal data.

2.  Why would these tech companies be against providing such said data?
     These tech companies are against providing such information so they don't get tied up in lawsuits.

1.  Could this case have a similar outcome in the US?
     I would say that nothing like that would happen in the United States. Even though she got surgery, it shouldn't matter and I don't think it would have mattered in the US.
2.  Interpret what this case says about the father.
     The father was a mean person and should never have got the money. That was just ridiculous that this whole thing even happened.

Should prisoners be able to vote?
    I don't think that prisoners should be able to vote because they broke the law therefore they should not be able to vote.

 Should recently released felons be able to vote?
    I feel like they should be able to vote. They have served their sentence so therefore they should be able to vote.
